DESCRIPTION:About the Program:\n\nYLAC is a program of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the Rockport-Fulton Middle School designed to increase community awareness and involvement of middle school aged students. This opportunity will help students learn more about their leadership potential and how their abilities can make a difference locally\, now and in the future. The participants will have experience with their peers and community leaders that they will remember for a life-time!\n\nParticipants are provided with tours\, roundtable discussions\, and speakers during their leadership sessions.\n\n\n\nAttendance: A total commitment to attend all scheduled days is required.\n\n\n\n\n\nSession #1 - Ropes Course + Team Building\n\nThis is an opportunity to meet each other and bond through team-building and other activities during Ropes Course.\n\nSession #2 - History & Boat Tour\n\nLearn about the beginnings of our Community\, how they were established\, how they survived\, or did not and how they grew as you take the boat ride where it all began.\n\nSession #3 - Arts & Culture\n\nParticipants learn about the importance of the arts and cultural arts opportunities in our community and surrounding area.\n\nSession #4 -Healthcare\, Law Enforcement & First Responders\n\nParticipants will learn about the public safety services in Aransas County and how they are provided. Gain a much better understanding of what it takes to work in the field of public safety.\n\nSession #5 Tourism & Economy\, Lunch with Mayors\n\nGain a better understanding of the importance of tourism in our community. Eat lunch with the Mayors and ask questions. Learn what it takes to keep the town running with Government Officials.\n\nSession #6 -Media\, Mind what you say & Public Speaking \n\nParticipants will receive a behind the scenes look at KIII TV\, learn the importance of ramifications of what you say\, post and speaking in the public with assurance & confidence.
