SUMMARY:1st Annual Chili Bowl Cook Off!
DESCRIPTION:1st Annual Chili Bowl Cook Off\n\nEach RV Park winner will enter our championship cook off\n\n\n\nA Traveling Plaque will be presented to the park that wins\n\nPrizes for 1 st \, 2nd and 3rd Place will be awarded\n\n\n\nWinners Name\, Park Name & Date will be added to the plaque. The Winning Park will\n\nhave on display until the next Chili Bowl Cook Off (2021) In 2021 the plaque will be\n\nreturned to Ron Hoover RV & Marine in Rockport for the next Chili Cook Off.\n\n\n\nEach Chili should be named (Spicy Jack\, Rocking Rockport\, Mellow One\, etc.)\n\n\n\nEach participant must arrive early so they can start their masterpiece. They will need to\n\nprovide their own table\, propane stove\, extension cord and shelter (canopy) Water\n\naccess is available\n\n\n\nJudging Starts at Noon!\n\n\n\nWHAT THE JUDGES ARE LOOKING FOR?\n\n TASTE - Above all else\, this is the most important factor. The taste should consist of the combination of\n\nthe meat\, peppers\, and spices\, with a perfect blend of flavors and no particular ingredient being\n\ndominant as stated above.\n\n TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY - Chili should have a good ratio of sauce to meat. It should not be dry\,\n\nwatery\, grainy\, lumpy\, or greasy. My rule of thumb is\, "Does the chili pile on the spoon or does it run\n\nover the sides with just a little bit of sauce dripping off as I slowly tilt the spoon?" "There should be\n\nenough juice/sauce to soak into crackers if desired."\n\n AROMA - Chili should smell good and give an indication of what's in store when you taste it. Does it\n\ncaress\, arouse\, abandon\, or attack your senses. "Whew that's gonna hurt"\, or "ohhhh my please float\n\nthrough my nose again "\n\n COLOR - Chili should look appetizing. A red chili should have a rich reddish-brown color overall and a\n\nVerde (green Chili) should of course have a green color to it. Both should not have a grey hue but should\n\npeak your curiosity and cause you to impatiently want to taste it as quickly as possible.\n\n BITE - The bite\, or after-taste\, is the combination of heat and flavor from the selected peppers and\n\nspices that lingers in the mouth after the chili has been eaten. A good chili will deliver the flavor of heat\n\nwithout any pain or taste bud paralysis. We judge a food based on what we personally believe any\n\ncommon random person would most likely thoroughly enjoy the experience of.\n\n\n\nAll winners' names must be submitted to Whit Parks one week prior to cook off (No later than 2/14/2020)
